I’ll be brutally honest here... I don’t like hand sanitizer. It smells like a distillery and it leaves my hands with a gross feeling film that I feel like a I have to wash off, totally defeating the purpose. Besides, the alcohol ends up drying out my hands so badly I have to run for shea butter to baby them into looking less like paper and more like supple skin. But then Prefense came into my life, and it was love at first pump.
Unlike traditional alcohol based hand sanitizers, Prefense is a silica based sanitizer. (By my rudimentary understanding of chemistry...silica is a form of glass). Instead of attacking germs by dehydrating them like alcohol based hand sanitizers, Prefense actually slices the cell walls of germs, effectively cutting their nasty little heads off, figuratively speaking. Though the image of a MRSA germ under the guillotine is pretty appealing.
Here’s what’s different and great about Prefense:
1. Prefense is made from organic materials and has NO alcohol in it and is safe and non-toxic if swallowed. For me, this means no worries about my baby chomping on my fingers after I use Prefense.
2. One pump of Prefense can last up to 24 hours and through 10 hand washings, which is great for moms like me who are constantly washing their hands after changing scary diapers or cooking and handling raw meat.
3. Prefense combats germs that alcohol based hand sanitizers can’t, such as staph, strep, E.coli, and drug resistant MRSA strains. These are scary bugs folks, especially MRSA. People think of untreatable infections as a thing of the past but more and more hard-to-battle infections that are drug resistant are cropping up.. An ounce of prevention, as they say...
4. Because Prefense lasts so long the cost of using it effectively is only about $.08 a day versus $1.20 a day for traditional alcohol based sanitizers.

Personally, I love the smell of Prefense. It’s light, herbal and fades after a minute or two, leaving any perfume or lotion I had on to shine through. My biggest beef with traditional hand sanitizers is the gross, sticky feeling left after it has dried, but with Prefense my hands are silky, smooth and definitely not sticky.
Working in an office where I come into contact with many people every day (one of whom actually admitted he had swine flu while sitting in the lobby), it sure is nice to have a product that not only protects me from germs but also smells and feels great.
But enough about me, right? It’s time for me to share the love, and the Prefense, with you!
Thanks to Prefense I’m hosting a giveaway for an 8oz bottle of Prefense, which is enough for 640 applications! So share with the kids, the husband, the dog, and force those germs to bite the dust! Here’s what you have to do to enter...

This stuff sounds a whole lot better than the crud I had to use in nursing school, or when Jake was a preemie in the NICU. I swear, my hands cried tears of relief when I dropped out of the nursing program! Love the fact that it is NOT alcohol based!

This stuff sounds wonderful in comparison to what we have to use at school. It just leaves my hands a mess.

we use a lot of hand sanitizer while camping during the summer, and i am very interested to try prefense because it's water based rather than alcohol based, so it shouldn't dry out everyone's hands so badly!
